What's the most important thing in life? It's all about perspective. If you're a student it's school. If you're working maybe it's your job or your pay. If you're having financial trouble it's money. But in an instant everything can change. At the root of it all, the block that holds the perspective pyramid together, is your health. Sure you might be young.. "healthy".. well so was I. Then everything came to a hault. Choose a healthy lifestyle NOW. Trust me, you will not be sorry.

now kiss that chicken finger GOODBYE. <3

Antidepressants do not work. the FDA/drug companies are so deceitful!

Seven Steps to Treat Depression without Drugs

1. Try an anti-inflammatory elimination diet that gets rid of common food allergens.

2. Check for hypothyroidism. This unrecognized epidemic is a leading cause of depression. Make sure to have thorough thyroid exam if you are depressed.

3. Take vitamin D. Deficiency in this essential vitamin can lead to depression. Supplement with at least 2,000 to 5,000 IU of vitamin D3 a day.

4. Take omega-3 fats. Your brain is made of up this fat, and deficiency can lead to a host of problems. Supplement with 1,000 to 2,000 mg of purified fish oil a day. Consider a vegan source of omega-3

5. Take adequate B12 (1,000 micrograms, or mcg, a day), B6 (25 mg) and folic acid (800 mcg). These vitamins are critical for metabolizing homocysteine, which can play a part in depression.

6. Get checked for mercury. Heavy metal toxicity has been correlated with depression and other mood and neurological problems.

7. Exercise vigorously five times a week for 30 minutes. This increases levels of brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF), a natural antidepressant in your brain.

Last night, my friends and I put together the BEST burritos I’ve had in a long, long time. Possibly ever. Without all the help we had, we couldn’t have added as many toppings and made it as extravagant and delectable as we did. They’d be great with any variation of the following recipe.

Vegan, gluten free, and of course VERY nutritious!

 —-Burritos with Cilantro Cashew Cream—-

CASHEW CREAM-

1 cup cashews, soaked for several hours, 1 cup cilantro, 1/2 cup water, 1 tbsp EVOO, 1 lime juice, 1 tbcp agave nectar, 1/8 cup apple cider vinegar, 1/2 tsp cayenne (we forgot to add but it would be a great addition), dash of S&P. BLEND!!!

now for the toppings——

RAW RED CABBAGE SLAW-

2 cups sliced red cabbage, 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar, 1 tbsp sesame oil, lime juice. MIXX together.

MANGO SALSA- Melissa made this but it consisted of diced mango, onion, & tomatoes

BLACK BEANS- 1.5 cans. I just heated them, added 2 cloves diced garlic, cayenne to taste, some onions.

BROWN RICE- seasoned w S&P

CORN- raw. so sweet and good.

PLANTAINS- these were a special treat!! melissa heated them in a pan w a little EVOO.

AVOCADOS- sliced.

MUSHROOMS- gently sauteed them with some S&P

SPINACH & SUNFLOWER SPROUTS

TORTILLA- Food for Life brown rice tortillas.

MMMMM.. now im gonna go eat the leftovers. XO.
